It is never too early to begin thinking about
life after high school. Sophomore year is when you should start
getting more involved with activities throughout the school. Parents I
encourage you to talk with your son/daughter about our Community
Service Club. It is helpful to start planning now, especially if you
are in need of scholarship money to help pursue your post-secondary
plans. Community Service is the number one criteria that I see in
every scholarship and by having a few years of service it will make
you eligible for more money. Depending on what your postsecondary plan
is, scholarship money can help you pay for college, and equipment to
go on in your trade. In addition, community service involvement can be
added onto your resume, which is a big sealing point to many
companies.
In early November, I will be meeting with each
sophomore student individually to work on a 4 year plan. We will
discuss the courses at NST and talk about which courses will best
prepare them for there post-secondary plans.
Please continue to check out our website, I will
keep you updated as to what is going on.
