It is expected that every student will comply with the regulations. Students are expected to dress appropriately. Students who do not comply may be sent home until they are appropriately dressed.

  • Clothing that is soiled, vulgar, suggestive of drugs, alcohol or alcohol products, or are excessively  tight will not be allowed.
  • Tube tops, halters, half-shirts, tank tops and short-shorts are not considered appropriate for the  school environment.
  • The wearing of hats, hoods, bandanas, visors, etc., unless required by shop, is not allowed in school.
  • Outerwear (jackets, coats, etc.) may not be worn in school. All students will keep outerwear in lockers.
  • Jewelry, for safety reasons, may not be worn in gym class.

SHOP REQUIREMENTS

  • Shoes must entirely cover and protect the feet. Canvas-type shoes and sandals are prohibited. In certain shops, safety boots/shoes are required. This requirement also applies to Exploratory students.
  • In some programs uniforms are required. If so, it is the student’s responsibility to purchase and maintain the necessary clothing. Students may be assigned to wear a hat as part of a shop’s uniform. If purchasing a uniform is a financial difficulty, please bring it to the attention of the instructor who will make arrangements for financial assistance. Other than required uniforms, the requirements for clothing are modesty, cleanliness and safety. Clothing in shops should be reflective of the vocational area so that it meets health standards and safety requirements.
  • Hair length should be determined by the dangers present. If long hair presents a danger, the hair should be tied back and held firmly in place. In other areas, hair must be netted regardless of length due to sanitary requirements. Hair length beyond the collar is dangerous near rotating machinery.
  • When working around machinery, students will check with their instructors as to the potential danger of wearing rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. In some shop areas jewelry will be prohibited.
  • Students are expected to come to shop prepared for work. Items 1 – 4 are prerequisite to this. Some shop areas also require students to provide basic tools and equipment as part of their preparation.

Students will be given an opportunity to observe these requirements. Failure to comply may result in students being sent home.
